Abstract

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social innovation (SI) are two concepts that in a short
time have captivated the attention of the literature due to their social purpose, therefore, considering
that there is a line of theoretical research that links them and a society that requires them, this
paper aims to empirically investigate the generation of IS in socially responsible companies (ESR)
in Tamaulipas. The research adopts a mixed approach starting in October 2021 with four semi
structured interviews to later apply a questionnaire to the entire population under study. The results
suggest that unconsciously and inadvertently the line that separates both concepts is crossed and that
incremental, marketing, institutional and product IS are currently being generated in the companies
studied. Among the main contributions, it stands out that data is generated from a line that until now
had been exclusively theoretical. The main limitation is that the study was carried out during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
