This text offers an autoethnography of the terrible experience of an academic who suffered sexual
abuse by a co-worker. She has faced a tough battle to report him criminally in search of justice.
The lack of empathy from university authorities and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office has
damaged her physical and mental health, as well as affected her work performance. A brief review
is made of what has been written about sexual violence, as well as an argument is advanced as to
why it continues to occur.
