sex work, abolitionism, violence against women, pimp, prostitutionAbstract
This article presents two positions regarding prostitution, one of them is the regulationist,
which proposes regulating prostitution and understanding it as “sex work.” The other position
is abolitionist, where prostitution is understood as a form of violence against women. After
presenting some arguments and reflections on each position, some questions are raised, which
allow the writer to express his position. The author’s position is also reinforced by situating
the narrative of a pimp, who was interviewed at the Social Reintegration Center of the State of
Tlaxcala. Placing this narrative allows the author to reinforce his personal position regarding
prostitution, and also provides elements to refute one of these two competing positions.
